How to Regenerate Saturated Color-Changing Silica Gel
Leave a message
The saturated colour changing silica gel can be renewed by heating and dehydration. The best way to bring back its colour and moisture-absorbing capacity is to heat it in an oven at 100-120℃ for 1-2 hours.
1. The Standard Regeneration Procedure (recommended for home use)
Key Points Steps
1. Remove Silica Gel Take it out of the humid environment or sealed container, so as to avoid the extended high humidity environment.
② Spread and Bake: Spread the granules evenly in a heat-resistant container, ≤5cm thick, and put it in the oven.
③Parameter setting: Maintain a consistent temperature of 110℃, heating for 1-2 hours (2 hours when doing deep moisture absorption or cleaning).
4. Cool Naturally. When you have turned power off, allow to sit in the oven to cool down slowly for 30 to 60 minutes.
⑤ Seal immediately: Take out and put in a sealed bag or desiccant within 5 minutes to prevent further moisture absorption.
The blue silica gel gets a deep blue again, the orange silica gel turns a vivid orange again and the granules are dry and loose are signs of successful regeneration.
2. Alternative Solution without Oven (weaker Effect)
Materials and methods
Instructions d'utilisation
Applicable Situations
Hair Dryer (Warm Air)
Blow air at a medium-high heat for 10 to 15 minutes, rotating the granules constantly.
For emergency small scale therapy.
Sun Exposure & Drying Assistance
2 days after sun exposure, put in a sealed container with new desiccant and use the difference in moisture to dehydrate.
Not for precision applications but for light moisture absorption.
Radiator Near Place
In winter, allow clothes dry slowly on a radiator for 3 to 5 days.
To serve as a temporary replacement when no equipment is available.
NOTE: This alternative procedure does not fully restore the product. The best way to keep it from going bad too soon is to dry it in an oven again as soon as possible.
3. Performance Evaluation After Regeneration and Usage Suggestions
Incomplete Colour Recovery (Grayish-white, Dark Red) => Micropore obstruction or indication deactivation, performance decrease;
Particle powdering, clumping → Structural degradation, permanent reduction of adsorption capability;
