Pressure vessel flange instability failure

 

Under compressive stress, the failure caused by the sudden failure of the original regular geometric structure of the pressure vessel is called instability failure. For example, there is the possibility of instability in container forgings subjected to external pressure or vacuum.

The damage caused by the excessive elastic deformation of the component is called the stiffness failure. If the tower is set up in the open air under wind load, excessive bending deformation will damage the normal operation of the tower, or the tower body will be subjected to excessive bending stress.

Pressure vessel failure caused by material yielding or fracture is called strength failure, including ductile fracture, brittle fracture, fatigue fracture, coil fracture, and corrosion fracture. A pressure vessel rupture refers to an explosion or leakage, which is extremely harmful. Ductile fracture and brittle fracture are two typical types of fracture. Ductile fractures are characterized by macroscopic deformations visible to the naked eye after the fracture. Such as overall bulging, the peripheral elongation rate can reach 10% 20%, and there is basically no debris. When the fracture surface and the principal stress direction are 45%, the stress usually reaches the strength limit of the material. The characteristic of brittle fracture is that the container does not expand when broken, that is, there is no obvious plastic deformation, and the fracture surface is flat and perpendicular to the direction of maximum stress, which is often broken and harmful. The stress of brittle fracture is often much lower than the yield limit of the material, so it is called low-stress brittle fracture.

1: Remove all visible dirt on the surface before removing rust, and then use solvent or cleaning agent to remove oil stains.

2: Use a tungsten steel shovel to remove large and simple surfaces or surface corrosion of objects.

3: Use a scraper and a wire brush to remove the rust on the corners.

4: Use a file to remove welding slag and other protrusions and burrs.

5: Clean thoroughly with diamond cloth and wire brush.

6: Clean the tablecloth, or clean the tablecloth with solvent in time and apply primer.

7: Please note that the hard coating that has not been lost can be stored and worn with diamond emery cloth. The coating defects can be polished into an axe shape and painted directly after cleaning.

8: Stainless steel flanges are treated with special stainless steel whitening liquid. If it is impossible to damage the workpiece, it can be reduced with 10-20% nitric acid and 5% phosphoric acid for 4 hours.
