Under what circumstances do silicon carbon rods need to be replaced in time?

Silicon carbon rods need to be replaced in time when the following conditions occur, otherwise the heating effect may be affected and even safety problems may occur:
Severe aging: When the use time of the silicon carbon rod reaches or exceeds its normal service life, and there are severe aging phenomena such as a significant increase in resistance and a significant decrease in heating efficiency, even if there is no obvious damage to the appearance, replacement should be considered to ensure the stable performance of the heating equipment.
Appearance damage
Surface cracks: There are many deeper cracks on the surface of the silicon carbon rod. These cracks will cause the silicon carbon rod to break easily during use, and the cracks will cause local overheating due to increased resistance, further accelerating the damage of the silicon carbon rod. At this time, it needs to be replaced in time.
Peeling or bulging: There is peeling or bulging on the surface of the silicon carbon rod, which will destroy the structural integrity of the silicon carbon rod, affect its heat dissipation and heating performance, and the peeling or bulging part may fall off, causing uneven heating, and should be replaced immediately.
End damage: If the end of the silicon carbon rod connected to the electrode is severely burned, deformed or corroded, it will cause poor contact, local overheating, and even circuit failure. New silicon carbon rods need to be replaced in time.
Performance degradation
Unable to reach the set temperature: Under normal power supply conditions, the silicon carbon rod cannot make the heating equipment reach the set temperature even if it works for a long time, and after excluding other equipment failure factors, it means that the heating capacity of the silicon carbon rod is seriously insufficient and needs to be replaced.
Uneven temperature: If the silicon carbon rod causes the temperature distribution of the heated object to be obviously uneven during the heating process, and it cannot be improved after adjusting the installation position and other methods, it may be that the silicon carbon rod itself is heating unevenly, and replacement should be considered.
Abnormal resistance: Use professional instruments to measure the resistance of the silicon carbon rod. If the resistance value increases by more than 30% - 50% compared with the initial value (different manufacturers and use environments), it means that the silicon carbon rod is seriously aged. Continuing to use may affect production due to insufficient power, or there will be safety hazards due to excessive current, so it should be replaced in time.
