What are the special properties of the materials used in electroplating equipment?

Electroplating equipment materials are characterized by their porosity. The surface of Nd-Fe-B material, produced by powder pressing and sintering, is porous and undergoes various mechanical processes before surface treatment. This allows the pores on the material's surface to absorb many impurities (such as industrial grease) and various high-pressure plating agents that are detrimental to surface treatment or the magnet coating. Therefore, removing these harmful impurities from the substrate before surface treatment is a key factor in ensuring good adhesion of the magnet coating.

Nd-Fe-B magnets are hydrogen-absorbing materials. The small amount of oxygen adsorbed within the material must be removed before surface treatment. The specifications of the cathode (anode) conductive wire are: Maximum operating current / 4 * (number of wires). For example, if the current is 100 amperes and there are two wires, the wire cross-section must be at least 12.5 square millimeters. Anodes are classified as either soluble or insoluble.

Soluble anodes are used for replenishing (common in common metal electroplating), while insoluble anodes are used as auxiliary anodes. For example, in nickel plating, nickel metal is used as a soluble anode, and the titanium basket is used to hold the nickel metal, so it is an insoluble anode. Precious metal electroplating generally uses insoluble anodes, and for good conductivity, insoluble precious metal anodes (such as platinum) are often used.

The cathode generally refers to the workpiece being plated, but the cathode here refers to the cathode contact that conducts electricity to the workpiece. Typically, the cathode contact is made of copper alloy or stainless steel. The material selection must be based on conductivity, corrosion resistance, operation, and cost. The contact contact with the workpiece must be good, with minimal friction, ideally.
