On March 22, it was learned from Ningde Times that its Kirin battery has achieved mass production, and the world's first vehicle model equipped with this battery, the extremely Krypton 009 ME version, will also be delivered in the second quarter of this year.
In June 2022, Ningde Times released the third generation CTP technology - Kirin battery. Compared to the previous two generations of CTP technology, Kirin battery completely canceled the module configuration design, and through optimization of the cooling structure, the battery's safety, life, fast charging performance, and specific energy density were further improved.
The system integration has set a global record, and the volume utilization rate has exceeded 72%. High nickel positive electrode and silicon based negative electrode batteries are used. The energy density of the ternary lithium battery can reach 255Wh/kg, which can easily achieve a vehicle's 1000 km range. The energy density of the lithium iron phosphate battery can reach 160Wh/kg, and it supports overcharging of 800V high voltage platforms above 4C.
At the same volume, the Kirin battery has a 13% higher capacity than the Tesla 4680 battery.
According to official data from Krypton 009, the Kirin battery version is equipped with a 140 degree lithium ternary battery pack, which can achieve a pure electric range of 822KM, and supports a 5-minute fast hot start and a 10-minute fast charging technology of 80%.
With the mass production and landing of Kirin batteries, there will be more and more vehicles equipped with Kirin batteries. As of now, in addition to the extremely Krypton 009, there will also be models equipped with Kirin batteries, such as the M9, the Avita 11, and the upcoming new medium and large pure electric SUV from Hongqi.
Compared to the ternary lithium Kirin battery, the lower priced lithium iron phosphate Kirin battery may be more favored by automotive companies. On the one hand, it can achieve excellent endurance performance, and on the other hand, the cost can also be well controlled.
