Currently, large-scale buyers in the machining industry conduct supplier development and management assessments during the order production process. Therefore, I believe that the focus of heat treatment management and control needs to be shifted both forward and backward. The "Five Ws" must be considered before heat treatment. Every workpiece entering the heat treatment process must be clearly understood:
1W: What material is the workpiece made of, what heat treatment will be performed, and what are the technical requirements?
2W: What will the workpiece be used for, what will the working environment be like, and which technical requirements are being prioritized? Active participation in customer product development and technical collaboration projects is essential, if possible.
3W: What processes have been performed on the workpiece before heat treatment?
4W: What is the delivery deadline? Ultimately, planning is crucial throughout the supply chain.
5W: What process controls should be considered during the heat treatment process?

The heat treatment process flow requires detailed analysis to better control process nodes and produce products that customers trust. Process refinement is node control, which is nothing more than the five factors we often talk about, namely people, machines, materials, methods and environment.
