Internal lead heaters feature a high-temperature lead wire welded directly to the resistance wire inside the tube. Therefore, the high-temperature lead wire must withstand temperatures of at least 800°C. Pure nickel wire is typically used. This wire arrangement is costly, but it offers flexibility and is less prone to breakage, resulting in a relatively high cost.
The production efficiency of internal lead heaters is far lower than that of external lead heaters. Welding the lead wire to the resistance wire is more challenging, so the lead wire length is generally not too long.
